Yep, the implications are enormous. I don’t think anyone really knows how it will play out — as soon as you get into second and third order effects (urban design, tobacco sales dropping at servos, local councils losing money from parking revenues) things will start getting pretty strange and unpredictable. Two things I came away with from this research were that it’s coming a lot quicker than originally anticipated, and also that ride hailing as the ultimate prize that everyone is chasing (hence the recent Google + Lyft announcement).
